Brewer Creek access
General Conditions
I approached from Military Pass/76/02 road last monday, 6-19. Vehicles had made it to the 02/10 (Brewer Creek Rd) junction. So the shortest distance is now the standard Brewer Creek RD (10). Aboout 3 miles on the road to get to the trailhead. I was able to ski almost down to the the first switchback below the trailhead before running out of snow.
Snow conditions were vairable. There was 3-4"on monday night, but the sun turned the snow 'chunky', if not sticky in the first hours. Found some scoured areas with no new snow which had benefitted from the freeze. No avalanche activity observed, but that may change as things warm up this week.
Lots of snow in the gullies and snowfields, not so much on exposed ridges. The summit route climbers left on the upper Wintun is still good to go, but getting burned out quickly.
