Mostly firm conditions were encountered yesterday around Gray Butte. Afternoon solar radiation softened up the surface snow just enough to provide some smooth turns along the future Gray Butte lift line.
Not much evidence of ice fall has been seen, but there is still plenty of rime plastered on the Red Banks.
No concern for loose wet avalanches have been raised. No notable instabilities in the snowpack have been observed over the last several days.
Below is the current status of your mountain as seen from the top of Gray Butte.
A warm front will pass through today followed by a cold front tomorrow. You will probably barely notice. Freezing levels will start at 8,000 ft and will steadily increase to 10,000 ft by tomorrow followed by a slight decrease as colder air moves in. High level scattered to broken clouds will linger today and tonight. North to northwest winds will probably be calm to light until you reach exposed elevations above 10,000 ft where they will become moderate.
High pressure will continue to be the dominant force in our weather for the foreseeable future. No precipitation is expected. The day to nighttime temperatures will practically fluctuate like a sine wave through next week.
