Yesterday, clouds and snow began to filter into the area midday, from NW to SE, and snow started to fall about 1400 hours in the Castle Lake area. Precipitation came in flurries, on again, off again. This morning, weather stations are reporting 3-4 inches of new snow over on the west side, Castle Lake and Eddy Mountains. Up on Mount Shasta, new snow totals are less, about 1-2 inches. Gullies and lower lying areas might host more new snow.

Mountain Weather:
A winter weather advisory in effect until 4am PST this morning. Expect mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers gradually diminishing this morning. Precipitation and clouds will clear out and give way to partly cloudy to mostly clear weather with moderate to strong north wind. Temperatures are chilly and wind chill factors on the mountain will be significant. For upper elevations, the north wind will be generally blowing into Tuesday, associated with the jet stream hovering over the area.
