Monday night's and Tuesday's precipitation brought a total of 0.27 inches of water to the mountain. Near treeline elevations got a little over an inch of wet snow. New snow smoothed surfaces out a bit and - for those with a positive attitude - made for a few pleasant turns. Plenty of obstacles exist - some visible some just slightly hidden. Sliders and riders should tread lightly. The Eddies only received rain.
The mountain is looking more like it does in June on a normal year. Climbing conditions are decent, but climbers should be prepared for falling rock and firm conditions. Crampons, an ice axe, and a helmet should be considered mandatory gear for summit attempts. Snow will still make access to east and north side trailheads difficult without a snowmobile. There is still a berm of snow blocking the Clear Creek Trailhead road.
Mountain Weather:
To paraphrase Medford's text discussion, not much will be going on today. Early clouds will clear, mid-elevation highs will reach 42 ºF, and winds will be light to moderate. As far as winds are concerned, the mountain will be at rest in most places today and tomorrow.
A lobe of low pressure will bring enough moisture to create mostly cloudy conditions tomorrow but no precipitation is expected.
A bit of precipitation (0.39 in) is on deck for Saturday with snow levels below 5,000 ft.
