General Conditions

The trail is free of snow until the trail begins to traverse along the ridge top above Mud Creek Canyon (approx. 2 miles up). The route has decent snow coverage above tree line, however ski conditions are poor and not recommended. From afar, the route looks dirty... that is dust blown onto the snow from Mud Creek Canyon and other melted out areas on this side of the mountain. The road that accesses the trailhead is free of snow and down trees and a 2 wheel drive vehicle can make it fine. The traverse above the Wintun Glacier to the SUmmit Plateau is the "crux" of the climb. Rockfall has been encountered here. An ice axe, crampons and helmet are recommened for this route.
