Recent Observations:
Since 2 p.m. Tuesday, Mount Shasta has received 13 inches of snow; in the Eddies 9-10. Strong southwest winds have dominated over the last 24 hours. Gusts reached 49 mi/hr. Temperatures have been hovering in the mid-twenties.
New snow sits atop a thin, breakable crust near and below treeline. Above treeline, snow surfaces were scoured, chalky, and wind-textured before the storm. See the photo below of Avalanche Gulch as the storm was coming in.

.A winter weather advisory is in effect from 4 p.m. this afternoon to 4 a.m. Friday above 4,000 ft.
Low pressure in the northwest corner of the country will continue to bring daily doses of precipitation and snow levels at 4,000 ft or below. Accumulation today looks to be 1-4 inches. South to southwest winds will range from light to gale force as you gain elevation. Be prepared for low wind chills.
Next week looks to be downright cold.
