- Over the last 24 hours, near treeline temperatures averaged 40.5 ºF, six degrees warmer than yesterday. West/northwest wind averaged 9 mi/hr with gusts to 37 mi/hr. Northwest wind has picked up considerably since late yesterday. The height of snow at Old Ski Bowl is 41 inches.
- The best snow surfaces for sliding, riding, and climbing will be in gullies. Moraines and ridges are devoid of snow until 10,000 ft. Above, skiers and climbers have found good condition, depending on the day.
- For climbers, rockfall is being observed in Avalanche Gulch. Wear a helmet and start early if making a summit attempt. You might not see any rockfall, or you can get smacked. It's a roll of the dice. The rule is simple: the more exposed rock, the better chance for rockfall.
- It is difficult to find continuous snow out of Bunny Flat up into Avalanche Gulch, though your best bet is to hug the base of Green Butte Ridge until you get above treeline. Plan to mostly walk to treeline.
- You can now drive to within 1.5 miles of the North Gate trailhead, but a high-clearance 4x4 is recommended. Clear Creek and Brewer Creek trailheads are still a ways out for a reasonable human powered approach.
- The season is over for the Tri-Forest Snowmobile Trails and snowmobiling anywhere else.
- Sand Flat Winter XC Trails are also done.

Northwest wind and a few clouds this morning will give way to mostly sunny skies with daytime highs similar to yesterday. Tonight, a strong jet will begin to push into the area. Clouds and west/northwest wind will begin to increase. Areas to the north should experience moderate to heavy snowfall on Sunday night into Monday morning. For us here in Shasta, right now models are only predicting about a tenth of an inch of water...so perhaps an inch or two above 6,000 feet. A rapid warm up is on track for Wednesday next week. The recap...mostly clear skies today, increasing clouds tomorrow with cooling temps, a blip of a storm late Sunday and Monday, then gradually clearing and warming up next week.
