Snowpack Observations

Details

Snow coverage is thin around Bunny Flat trailhead. Plenty of rocks and dirt patches are exposed. The first few hundred yards of the Everett Memorial Highway beyond the gate closure are thin with patches of open road.

Snow surfaces remained soft and moist up to 9,500ft in the Old Ski Bowl. Plenty of old raised tracks made for a rough ride, though. Boot penetration of 10cm was observed. Above 10,000ft, snow surfaces were firm and icy, especially on ridgelines. No avalanches or signs of unstable snow were observed.

Winds above 10,000ft were strong and gusty out of the west. Clouds engulfed the upper mountain and visibility was limited above 11,000ft. Temperatures remained above freezing during the afternoon.
