We're not skiing yet but the ice is solid at Heart Lake and skating can be a great winter activity. Load your packs with your blades of choice and fill your mug with some holiday tidings. Take the easy trail up to Heart Lake in the Castle Lake basin for a fun and beautiful outing. A few locals have cleared a section of the small lake for ice skating. Be careful on the icy hiking trail leading to the lake. Ski poles recommended. The trail is marked with easy to follow pink flagging due to new trail construction. The road to Castle Lake is free and clear of snow and ice. Castle Lake is NOT frozen.
