Snowpack Observations

Details

  • 40 - 50 cm of recent storm snow
  • Widespread 1.5 cm breakable temperature crust
  • Unable to find soft snow, even on most northerly, sheltered areas. (Parks Ck Summit lies at approx. 6,900 ft)
  • Soft snow still lingers below temp crust, 1F to 4F hardness
  • Difficult to ski. Abandoned objective mid-slope due to breakable crust.
  • Total snow depths avg 60-90 cm, wind drifts deeper
