Details

No surprise, the NW wind was cranking this afternoon on a quick tour to the Gray Butte weather station. Blowing snow/leeward slopes wind-loaded. Cornice formation obvious on the Gray Butte ridgeline and apparent avy debris from cornice failure on ridgeline (see photo). Unclear how recent. Blocking, cracking under skis on convex, leeward terrain features was observed.
