Snowpack Observations

Details

  • 120-130 cm average height of snow (+/- 50 inches)
  • Dec 13/14 rain crust approx. 60 cm down from surface (23 inches)
  • Right side up, stable snowpack structure
  • No recent avalanches or other red flags
  • Widespread surface (sun) crust (12.26.18), paper thin to gnarly and breakable.
  • 42N17 driveable from Stewart Springs. We parked 4 miles up the road. 
  • Snowmobile traffic advised to stay out of Lower Deadfall Meadow due to shallow snow conditions
