Details

Rain fell up to 7,500ft during the last storm. The height of new snow was variable ranging from 4-8 inches between 7,500-12,000ft. No significant signs of unstable snow were observed in Avalanche Gulch or in the Old Ski Bowl. Northwest winds were seen transporting snow at 9,000ft and above and loading southeast slopes.

Steady icefall throughout the day in upper Avalanche Gulch. Some rockfall occurred as well. Most notably, a large rock tumbled down to 8,500ft from high on Casaval Ridge. Skiing and riding conditions are firm, but good between 10,500-8,000ft. No signs of wind slabs or active wind loading.

Details

No signs of recent avalanches or instability in the Old Ski Bowl. Wet and heavy snow has bonded well to the old snow surface. Very little boot or ski penetration and smooth and uniform snow surfaces above treeline. Rain on snow below 7,500ft during the last storm melted snow and exposed more bare ground. A mix of rain and snow occurred up to about 11,000ft. Lots of falling rime ice observed in the Old Ski Bowl and in Avalanche Gulch.

Details

Active rockfall and icefall off of the Redbanks formation in Avalanche Gulch was observed today. No signs of snowpack instability. Snow cover is getting very thin around Bunny Flat and below 8,000ft. Very calm winds and warm temperatures allowed snow surfaces to soften on south, southeast, and east aspects making for some good corn skiing.
